Zone-Day Booking Planner for House Call Vets
A business that sells to mobile veterinary clinics
A booking tool that only lets a house call vet's clients pick days when the vet is already working in their neighborhood.
I lost two appointments today to ninety minutes of driving between neighborhoods I should never have booked on the same morning.
The idea
A small web app where the vet draws service zones on a map, assigns each zone to set days of the week, and gets a public booking page that only offers clients windows on their zone's day. Appointments cluster geographically, drive legs shrink, and the day's stop order is auto-sequenced and exported to the vet's phone navigation. Sold as a monthly subscription, fully self-serve.
The customer
A mobile veterinary clinic is a vet who drives to people's homes or sets up pop-up vaccine days instead of working from a fixed animal hospital, carrying exam gear, vaccines and medicines in a van. It is usually run by a single licensed veterinarian, sometimes with one assistant, who books their own appointments and plans their own driving routes.
Also called house call vet, mobile vaccination clinic. Here is what a mobile veterinary clinic spends on and what goes wrong for them, which is where this idea came from.
What they spend on
- Medical van or mobile unit with exam table and power
- Portable diagnostic kit: analyzer, otoscope, ultrasound
- Refrigerated vaccine storage with temperature logging
- Mobile practice software with in-home invoicing
- Route scheduling and appointment window management
- Controlled substance secure storage in vehicle
- Portable radiography or referral imaging arrangement
- Medical waste and sharps disposal service
- Vehicle maintenance and generator servicing
What goes wrong for them
- Drive time between appointments limiting daily capacity
- Vaccine cold chain integrity in the vehicle
- Limited diagnostics and surgery capability on the road
- Controlled substance security in a mobile unit
- Client homes with poor handling space and fractious pets
